In 2020, like the rest of the world, the BNMF team faced the consequences of the COVID pandemic. The event could not be held as in previous years, gathering hundreds of people at a venue. Nevertheless, despite all the challenges, the 4th Brave New Media Forum fulfilled all expectations and offered young creators and media professionals a virtual edition of the three-day program!

The 2020 BRAVE NEW MEDIA FORUM and its “viral edition” had a live broadcast from a virtual studio in Novi Sad, Serbia, with a significantly greater number of participants and speakers from all over the world, creating an opportunity for more spotlights and panel discussions.

The fight for freedom of speech during the pandemic, how to stop the spread of fake news, how to break up filter bubbles on social media, countering hate speech against women and LGBTQI — were just some of the topics discussed in a live stream with colleagues from numerous countries.

The BNMF welcomed media experts from Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Bolivia, South Africa, Myanmar, the Netherlands, Germany and Syria.
