The 7th BRAVE NEW MEDIA FORUM gathered over 250 media makers, young media enthusiasts, and human rights activists in Jugoslovenska Kinoteka (The Yugoslav Film Archive) in Belgrade, Serbia. Like in previous years, the forum had hybrid panel discussions and was live-streamed via our website on November 17-18.
The program included hot topics such as press freedom in Turkey, Myanmar, Armenia, and Western Balkan countries, hate speech against LGBTQI+, and bridging the conversation gap between generations. Some issues addressed during the forum were how to elevate content for young audiences and craft a gender-inclusive media landscape.
For the first time this year, the BNMF introduced the INNOVATION DAYS, a new side event focused on AI’s ethical implications in journalism and Gen Z in the newsroom. What challenges and responsibilities come with integrating AI technologies into content curation and decision-making processes? How can media engage new and young audiences? How can TikTok be a distribution platform for hard news?
